Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electronics Engineering Manager to lead and grow a high-performing power supply design team. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, requiring someone who can mentor and develop engineers while remaining actively involved in the design and delivery of advanced power conversion systems.
You will be responsible for building a strong engineering culture, driving technical excellence, and delivering innovative DC/DC and AC/DC power supply solutions for high-voltage and high-reliability applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of power electronics engineers, fostering technical growth and best-practice design methodologies.
- Provide technical direction and oversight across multiple power supply development projects.
- Remain hands-on in the design, simulation, and development of DC/DC and AC/DC converters, particularly for high-voltage applications.
- Define architecture and topologies for next-generation power supply platforms.
- Oversee design verification, testing, and qualification activities.
- Support recruitment and onboarding of new engineering talent.
- Collaborate closely with systems, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product integration.
- Manage project timelines, resource planning, and technical risk.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, processes, and design standards.
Required Experience & Skills
- Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or similar discipline.
- Significant experience in power electronics design, including DC/DC and AC/DC converter development.
- Proven track record in high-voltage power supply design.
- Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of power semiconductor devices, magnetics, control loops, and thermal design.
- Proficiency with simulation and design tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, PCB CAD).
- Hands-on experience taking designs from concept through to production.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in regulated or high-reliability industries (space, defence, medical, industrial).
- Exposure to EMC compliance and safety standards for high-voltage systems.
- Experience scaling engineering teams in a growing organisation.
