The Role

As Lead Power Electronics Engineer, you will drive the full design lifecycle of high-voltage power supplies and DC/DC converters — from initial concept through to validated production release. You will work as a key technical contributor within a focused engineering team, bringing together circuit design, magnetics, simulation, and hands-on prototype validation under one remit.

Specifically, you will:

• Lead the design and development of efficient, cost-effective power conversion circuits and power supplies to customer and regulatory specifications — spanning analog and digital circuits, embedded control logic, magnetics, EMI filters, and HV power stages
• Own the full hardware development process: schematic capture, PCB layout direction, prototype build, bench testing, and firmware/code development for embedded control
• Develop analytical models, simulation tools, and predictive design methods that reduce iteration cycles and improve first-pass design success

• Lead prototype bring-up and debugging of power supply units in a high-voltage development lab environment

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• 8+ years of hands-on power electronics design experience, with a demonstrable focus on DC/DC converter and power supply development
• Strong working knowledge across the full power electronics design toolkit: analog and digital circuit design, magnetics design, EMI/EMC, thermal management, and embedded control
• Experience designing to customer and regulatory specifications across one or more of: semiconductor capital equipment, industrial, or medical applications
• Proven ability to take a design from concept to validated hardware independently, including schematic capture, layout, and lab bring-up
• Proficiency with circuit simulation tools — SPICE-based simulators, PLECS, PSIM, or equivalent
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; able to define the problem, collect and interpret data, and drive to a valid conclusion
• Strong communicator — equally capable of presenting technical detail to engineering peers and summarising results clearly for management
