Senior Applications Engineer – DC/DC, AC/DC

Ampere Recruitment is supporting a global leader in advanced electronic systems with the appointment of a Senior Applications Engineer to join their team based in Cork.

This position will focus on supporting customer projects across medical and other high-reliability applications, involving the design, development, testing, and application support of advanced power and electronic systems. The successful candidate will work closely with customers to understand requirements, develop tailored solutions, and ensure reliable system performance in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and analyse electronic systems, subsystems, and circuits to meet performance, cost, and quality targets.
• Diagnose and resolve design, performance, and reliability issues.
• Provide technical support to customers, ensuring product success in their applications.
• Follow internal engineering and product development procedures.
• Keep up to date with emerging power-conversion topologies and design techniques.
• Mentor and provide technical direction to junior engineers or technicians.

Skills & Experience Required:

• 5–10 years’ experience in electronic or power-system design, ideally within regulated sectors such as medical or defence.
• Strong understanding of AC-DC, DC-DC, and programmable power systems.
• Familiarity with digital control, communication protocols, and product safety standards.
• Practical experience in bench testing, experiment setup, and validation.
• Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the confidence to lead and influence others.

Location & Environment:

The role is based at a modern facility in Cork, offering a collaborative office and laboratory environment. It involves hands-on work with electronic test equipment and high-voltage systems, following strict safety protocols. Occasional travel may be required to support customers and liaise with international teams.
