Job Summary

We seek a highly skilled and motivated Field Applications Engineer (FAE) specialising in SiC (Silicon Carbide) semiconductors to join our client's dynamic team. The FAE will provide technical expertise and support to customers, assisting with designing, integrating, and applying SiC semiconductor products across various industries such as automotive, renewable energy, industrial, and telecommunications. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between the engineering team and customers, offering deep technical insights, problem-solving, and hands-on support to ensure successful product implementation and optimisation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support & Consultation: Provide in-depth technical expertise and advice on SiC semiconductor products to customers and internal sales teams. Assist customers with product selection, system design, and integration.
  • Customer Engagement: Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, delivering presentations, demos, and technical training on SiC semiconductor technologies.
  • Design & Development Assistance: Collaborate with customers on the design and development of new applications utilizing SiC semiconductor devices. Assist in system-level architecture, circuit design, and product testing.
  • Application Engineering: Provide hands-on support during the design, testing, and validation phases of SiC semiconductor product applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to SiC components in customer applications. Conduct root cause analysis and propose corrective actions.
  • Product Feedback: Work closely with the product development and R&D teams to provide customer feedback on product performance, helping to influence future product improvements and innovations.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and advancements in SiC semiconductor technology and the broader power electronics industry.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain application notes, technical documents, and user guides to support customers in their SiC semiconductor implementations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, product management, and engineering teams to ensure alignment on customer needs and product development goals.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in a technical support or field applications engineering role, with a focus on SiC semiconductors.
  • Solid understanding of power electronics and semiconductor physics, particularly with SiC technology.

Technical Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with SiC MOSFETs, SiC diodes, and other power semiconductor devices.
  • Proficiency in circuit design and simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Knowledge of power conversion topologies (e.g., DC-DC converters, inverters, motor drives).
  • Familiarity with automotive, industrial, or renewable energy applications.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively present technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to convey complex technical details to non-technical stakeholders.

Problem-Solving:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in real-time.

Customer Focus:

  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs, and delivering timely solutions.

Willingness to Travel:

  • Travel to customer sites and industry events as needed (up to 40%).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the automotive or renewable energy sector.
  • Previous experience working with power electronics systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards related to SiC semiconductors.
