Summary
Position: Control Systems Engineer
Overview
Join our client's innovative team to design and develop cutting-edge control systems for advanced subsystems. You'll play a vital role in ensuring reliable, autonomous performance in some of the most challenging environments imaginable.
What You’ll Be Doing
We understand this is a broad and multidisciplinary role and are seeking candidates who demonstrate strength in at least 3 of the following areas:
- Control System Design
Design, simulate, and test robust control systems tailored for the harsh conditions of space. - System Integration & Testing
Integrate control systems with propulsion and other onboard subsystems, conducting rigorous testing in simulated space environments including thermal vacuum, vibration, and radiation. - Autonomous Fault Management
Create intelligent fault detection, isolation, and recovery strategies to enhance satellite resilience and autonomy. - Agile Iteration
Collaborate in a fast-paced, hands-on environment to rapidly prototype, test, and refine control architectures. - Modelling & Simulation
Use tools like MATLAB/Simulink to model complex systems, analyse dynamic behaviour, and validate control algorithms. - Electronics & Firmware Collaboration
Work closely with electronics teams to design circuits and implement control logic on microcontroller platforms, ensuring space-grade performance and reliability. - Embedded Code Generation
Develop standalone MATLAB/Simulink modules for embedded deployment. Separate control logic from simulation code, with clearly defined interfaces and resource-aware design for microcontrollers.
What our client is Looking For
- A degree (MEng, MSc, or PhD) in Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation, Control Systems, Robotics, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Solid background in control systems design, tuning, and implementation.
- Hands-on experience with embedded firmware development for microcontroller-based systems.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for modelling and control algorithm development.
- Understanding of power electronics and electrical power converters; experience with Power Processing Units (PPUS) is a strong plus.
