Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Applications Engineer specialising in Silicon Carbide (SiC) semiconductors. This role will focus on supporting the development, optimisation, and application of SiC-based power semiconductor solutions across a variety of industries, including automotive, industrial, and renewable energy sectors. The ideal candidate will understand power electronics, SiC device characteristics, and their integration into real-world systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to customers in selecting and applying SiC semiconductor products, ensuring optimal performance in their applications.
- Design Support: Assist customers with the integration of SiC devices into their designs, including schematic review, PCB layout, thermal management, and system-level optimization.
- System Analysis: Analyze customer systems and applications to identify areas where SiC technology can deliver enhanced performance and efficiency.
- Product Development Support: Collaborate with R&D teams to provide feedback from customers for new product development, improvement, and testing of SiC devices.
- Application Testing & Validation: Conduct application testing, characterization, and validation of SiC-based power devices to meet customer specifications and industry standards.
- Technical Presentations: Develop and deliver technical presentations, workshops, and training for customers and internal teams on the benefits and usage of SiC technology.
- Customer Interface: Act as the primary technical interface for customers, addressing inquiries and solving complex technical challenges related to SiC devices and applications.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, and engineering teams to ensure that customer requirements are fully understood and integrated into product offerings.
- Industry Trends & Research: Stay updated on emerging trends and developments in SiC semiconductors and power electronics, and communicate findings to internal teams and customers.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of SiC semiconductors, power devices (MOSFETs, diodes), and their applications in power conversion systems.
- Experience with power electronics, including design, simulation, and testing of power systems and components.
- Familiarity with thermal management, gate driver circuits, and EMC considerations in SiC-based systems.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in applications engineering, design, or technical support in the semiconductor or power electronics industry, with a focus on SiC technology preferred.
- Skills:
- Proficient in the use of simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB) and design software (e.g., Altium, Cadence).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems and identify solutions.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information to a diverse audience.
- Travel: Willingness to travel (up to 25%) to customer sites, conferences, and industry events as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with SiC-based products in automotive, industrial, or renewable energy applications.
- Knowledge of power semiconductor standards and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in failure analysis and reliability testing of SiC devices.
